Primary School

ALM Primary and Middle School curriculum is modelled after the Scottish Curriculum and the UK National Curriculum and covers Classes I to VIII. The international curriculum has been contextualised and adapted to local needs. It is taught in English with the exception of language classes and strives to develop knowledge, skills, values and cultural understanding. Select ALM are also authorised to offer the IB Primary Years Programme for students 3-11 years of age.

Our middle school programme includes the best aspects of teaching and learning and is designed keeping CIE expectations in mind. Subject selection at this level is crucial in shaping future pathways and links between school, further study and the world of work. We are committed to embracing the cross curriculum priorities and general capabilities of the CIE curriculum.

Supported by strong co-curricular programmes students are encouraged to become lifelong learners who can solve problems, think creatively and critically, communicate effectively and act ethically.

KEY PROGRAM COMPONENTS

  • Daily Quran memorization with proper tajweed by reputable and qualified teachers.
  • Using the Ontario Curriculum with additional resources for mastery of each subject.
  • Low student-teacher ration in every classroom.
  • Multi-leveled classroom environment
  • Group instruction and individual mentoring throughout the day.
  • Third term Swimming Program by certified aquatic instructors
  • Dynamic educators who engage students in the learning process
  • High standards of Islamic ethics and conduct, demonstrating values which reflect principle-centered leadership.

How Program Works

The junior high program is for children entering grades 7-8 taught in the same classroom under well-qualified teachers. Classes in the senior division are separated by gender; however some specific learning modules are separated by level as opposed to gender such as mathematics and literacy development. A strong emphasis is put into mastery and enrichment in each academic strand for the preparation of high school. Students in the senior division are expected to master the various components in the Ontario Curriculum as well as the Quran studies in the morning. Each subject is taught with the student in mind, implementing one-on-one teaching and self-paced learning. With this type of setup for the senior elementary age group, it is very common for kids to advance in certain subject areas allowing them to learn without limitation.
